I have finally managed to get Breezy (Ubuntu 5.10) useable on my Dell Inspiron 6000.
Using wireless Broadcom card vi ndiswrapper.
Hard time getting kernel source to comile other stuff .ie ndiswrapper kept complaining about no kernelsource fixed by installing gcc 3.4
video is vesa 1280x800 with 128mb memory specified in xorg.conf
still trying to get i810 working (any help?)
touchpad works with no scroll yet
have gnome and kde setup
lineakd handling multimedia keys in kde
have not tried cd burning or watvhing dvd yet
ok i just went there to get breezy and the lines they show to replace i dont have all of them lol yeah i know wtf. so is it safe to delete everything and just paste the new ones in?
What I did was to (in /etc/apt/sources.lst)
find/replace hoary/breezy
save and update noting which repositories did not work
find/replace breezy/hoary
copy repositories that did work replacing breezy with hoary.
in xorg.conf use vesa driver
then do a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
and hope
was not easy getting i810 driver working (tried so many things I am unsure what worked)
Final note. ****Do not attempt this on an important box as it may not work and you will have to reload from scratch!! Back-up everything first****
