boot loader woes & misbehaving network cards

Skip to the last paragraph if you want the short and simple question.

I turned on my laptop today after a lunch of bawls and tacos. The good mood that high doses of caffeine and Taco Bell had put me in quickly faded as I noticed that my MBR was SOL. While I have no idea what happened, everyone in the building using a certain router has experienced the same nightmare I just got done with. Anyway, I finally got done getting my Vista partition up and running, and I turned to get Ubuntu Server 6.06 up. After I got everything up, I did the last thing I always do before loading data onto the HD: I checked to make sure my network card's weren't as SOL as my hard drive had been.

Anyway, here's where the problem comes in: I've got a new Broadcom BCM4318 [Airforce One 54g] 802.11g wireless card I initially only used with Windows. I figured I would go ahead and use it with Linux too. While the device manager knows what the card is, it doesn't know the device type. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get this card working properly.

thanks.
