I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on a Thinkpad which has a combined audio input/output jack, I got the adapter to split it into input and output, so that I can record from external source, but when I use Audacity I couldn't monitor during recording. I looked around there is nothing on the audio setting I can turn on the monitoring, I can only see the recording level to know there is audio input. I thought it is the combo audio jack bypassed the speaker, so I try bluetooth, but still no audio during recording, although I get audio on playback, any advice ?

Try using your output jack on the adapter with headphones or your speakers. Bluetooth is a whole different animal. What device are you using?

I am using a Thinkpad X220i, there is no signal out put in the combine jack adapter, that's why I try BT.
