-bash: syntax error near unexpected token

Hi Guys,

I am trying to install the R package with Psych to do some statistical analysis, but as I read http://personality-project.org/r/book/overview.pdf page 4, the syntax doesn't work on the Ubuntu 10.04. I am trying to execute :

install.packages("ctv")
library(ctv)
task.views("Psychometrics")

but the system keeps saying :

-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `cvt'

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Amir

Welcome to LQ.

R : sudo apt-get install r-core

The R shell : sudo R
... And you get the R promt ( > ) and can do : install.packages("ctv")
etc. etc.

R packages for Ubuntu 10.04 http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/math/
The package r-cran-psy and many other r packages can be installed with apt.

Thanks for the replies.

But in the R shell when I select wherever CRAN mirror to install.packages("ctv"), in prompts :

Warning message:
In getDependencies(pkgs, dependencies, available, lib) :
package ‚ctv‚ is not available

then nothing will happen.

thanks
