Run azureus with "> /dev/null 2>&1" on the end of the command line.
In fact, just running it at all from a terminal, instead of clicking on it, will make the log messages go to your terminal instead of into a file.
.xsession-errors is the "graveyard" for all messages that were run in X, that have nowhere else to put them.
