ati driver on ubuntu 11.10
 
hi,
i have ubuntu oneiric x64 installed on my lenovo G570 laptop
and i have a problem in ati drivers installation
basically when my laptop was holding ubuntu 11.04 x64 , the ati driver has no effect on it

on oneiric i found new driver "post-release updates" when i tried to activate it i get those messages from log file
/var/log/jockey.log

I am not sure what the package of your driver is call. I use Debian and it is "fglrx-driver" which I believe is not what it is called in the Ubuntu repo but I am going to use the name I have. You will have to edit that to fit Ubuntu.

Have you run;

sudo dpkg-reconfigure fglrx-driver
this should either help or give you an error message that will help.

I know that a lot of times on my box it needs a specific command run to get the initial configuration set. I do not remember what that is but it should come up, I think, if you run the dpkg command.

Unless your laptop's BIOS has an option to disable the onboard intel GPU, you will be unable to use the AMD GPU at the moment.
