I was receiving the same error, but it resolves itself on its own. It seemed like a problem with the Ubuntu repositories. See if the error is still there after upgrading:
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Someone in the Ubuntu forums also reported it as a temporary problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=347948

really? How long till it worked out, cuz I am getting a similar error on the same thing

Code:
W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
and when I try to get a packet it gives me this error:

Code:
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?
and it's been a few hours of me trying to fiddle with it, and I am near ripping my hair out.
