Adding a service.

Yesterday I switched from Slackware to Kubuntu (6.06) because I was fed up with the lack of a decent package management system for Slackware, or fed up with the time I was spending trying to look for one. So here I am. I've got one question.

When I first started using Slackware last year, a friend of mine at the time set up httpd/mysql/php to load during the boot process (I use LAMPP), and now that I'm on Ubuntu, I forgot how to do that and was unable to find any information on how to do so.

And in addition to that, I'd also like to set some applications to start up when KDE loads, such as Torsmo and ksmoothdock. Any idea on how I can go about doing that? Even when I was on Slackware I had a hard time trying to figure out how to do it, and was still unable to do so. I was never able to get KDE to save the session with both programs running, as it would always default to a new session for some reason. But that's besides the fact.

Any help?

Thanks.

adding apps to autoload under kde means editing the ~/.kde/Autostart

gentoo_forum

adding services to autostart means editing scripts in /etc/init.d/

ubuntu_forum

KDE only saves the session when you logout from KDE using the K menu...CTRL-ALT_BKSPC or CLI halt/reboot bypasses session saves.
