13.10 on MacBook Pro1,1

just an FYI that this installed without any issues and is running flawlessly

I fixed up this old MBP with 2gb ram, resized the HD with disk utility and then booted the 13.10 install disk by holding down the Option key at boot.

Instead of automating the boot process I hold the Option key down on boot, select what the MBP shows as a "Windows" disk, and hit enter. A second or three later I'm presented with the Grub menu which shows both Ubuntu and OSX bootable partitions.

It's just a matter of time before I wipe the OSX partition and give the whole thing over to Ubuntu, I'm that pleased with it.

I've been running Debian, standalone, on a MacBook Pro (A1260 2008) for a while now and never looked back. It does need some possible tinkering before everything works (depends on MacBook version).

These links deal with 2 possible issue's one might run into:
- Trying to use F keys without pressing Fn in Gnome
- MacbookPro trackpad

happily I've had no issues at all with either of those...this MBP is model A1150 MA464LL/A which dates from early 2006...CoreDuo at 2ghz and the matte screen that I really prefer over the glossies on the newer ones I have...anyway, another satisfying ressurection of a piece of so-called "obsolete" technology...
