LXer: Why I'm Rooting for Microsoft

Published at LXer:

It will not have escaped your notice that the patent system has been the subject of several posts on this blog, or that the general tenor is pretty simple: it's broken, and nowhere more evidently so than for software. Anyone can see that, but what is much harder is seeing how to fix it given the huge vested interests at work here.

Pardon me, but isn't this a Linux news forum? Last I checked it was, and the Mods certainly don't want any discussion that isn't related to Linux in Linux forums.

*epic facepalm* I thought this was settled. If it bothers you so much that I, others, and even the LQ bot posts articles that don't always allude to Linux, maybe you should just stop bothering to check the posts here. Nobody else is complaining except for you, sorry that LQ doesn't revolve around you, and what is the point of 'reporting' this anyways? A mod is not going to remove this article.

Just give it a rest will ya? It has become rather tiresome.

Okay sorry. No, LQ does not revolve around me, and I never want it to be. I want it to revolve around Linux, like it's supposed to. But that's just my opinion.

Relax, folks.

It looks like this was a bot post from a legitimate Linux news source.

Heck, I pull in the LXer RSS feed on my primary computer. Doesn't mean I approve of the contents, but I appreciate the feed.

This is actually relevant. Software patents are a threat to open source software as well as MS. It should be much easier to invalidate a patent in court where prior art exist.
