Google's slow, steady march into the OS realm has begun to pay off. It's time for the Linux world to rally. I used to think Ubuntu was destined to lead Linux into the mainstream, but now it's looking much more like Google--not Canonical--will be the first Linux vendor to truly challenge Microsoft.

Interesting.. But as mentioned elsewhere on LQ (just to make one small point) this whole "cloud computing" thing doesn't compute for me; it's like webmail, in that when it's down, everything's down. What portion of this Google OS will really be tangibly on your machine, and how much of it will be online somewhere?

I distrust google and the only thing i use them for is a search engine.
