LXer: Slackware 12.1 First Impressions

Late last week I downloaded and installed Slackware 12.1 on my aging (OK, old) Toshiba laptop side by side with Vector Linux Light. I'll post a full review to my O'Reilly Linux Dev Center blog once I've had more opportunity to use the latest version of Slack.
My first impression: Slackware is still Slackware.

God, I hate this. Anything that isn't GUIfied to within an inch of its life is considered "user unfriendly" immediately. What is so bad a bout a text based installer? It installs the OS quickly, neatly and then gets the hell out of the way. This is a bad thing?

I never take much notice of this kind of review, too subjective, too loaded with preconceived ideas.

I'm agree, usually a review of a distro is made by non-expert people, they compare the distro with M$ OS expecting the Linux distro is user friendly and they don't like dirty hands.
