LXer: Screw this, I'm going back to Windows!

No, I'm not. Because I never left, hihihihi. The title is a clickbait, sure to grab the attention of fanboys. But I do have a serious would-be emotional dilemma slowly building up. Looking back at the percentage of time I spent using Windows in the recent months, I would say it has its parliamentary majority. Mostly because of 3D stuff and games, but partly because I'm tired of hunting for dog **** in the sandbox.

I sort of agree with this blogpost but he forgets that not everyone wants what he wants. Not everyone wants Unity, infact many people ditched Ubuntu because of it. Not everyone wants Cinnamon, infact Linux Mint cannot even make up its own mind what way to go considering Cinnamon is their 4th attempt at something other than Gnome 2x. He rails against KDE as being unstable but he says it should be one of 3 options available to people. What about survival of the fittest? Ubuntu wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Debian, which he seems to think should just disappear. Mint wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Debian and Ubuntu. What about those who like and use LXDE or XFCE or other established and worthwhile DEs and Window Managers? Why should we all just bow down to what he wants and use Unity, Cinnamon, and KDE?

I agree Linux does need a change and a tidy up from all the little (hobby) distros. I think they have their place in the Linux ecosystem but it is untidy at the moment. I think the important thing is to realise we aren't all going to agree with Mr Shuttleworth's vision just like we don't agree with Mr Gate's vision so we should be allowed to choose our own vision and if we are unhappy with that have the right to change to another vision.
