A free Flash viewer is one of the last major gaps in GNU/Linux desktop functionality, so last week's news that Gnash, the free Flash player, had reached the stage where it could play YouTube and Lulu.tv videos seemed too good to be true. Unfortunately, it was.

Reactionary! All I know is that on my 64-bit system, the new version runs most Flash apps, including YouTube, that I encounter ... and since it's really the only option I have, I'm mighty happy. Video is not that big a deal to me.

I refuse to use that nsplugin thing for the same reason I won't use ndiswrapper. I use NO Windows software which is what the n-plugins are doing. There is no flash for 64-bit except Gnash, and I'm damned glad to have it.
