LXer: New Benchmarks Of OpenSolaris, BSD & Linux

Published at LXer:

Earlier today we put out benchmarks of ZFS on Linux via a native kernel module that will be made publicly available to bring this Sun/Oracle file-system over to more Linux users. Now though as a bonus we happen to have new benchmarks of the latest OpenSolaris-based distributions, including OpenSolaris, OpenIndiana, and Augustiner-Schweinshaxe, compared to PC-BSD, Fedora, and Ubuntu.

What the hell is Augustiner-Schweinshaxe? I can't find any info on the web, it seems to me that it is only mentioned on the Phoronix website.

It's a code name for a "new OpenSolaris-based distribution" so the term may not have been published before. It roughly translates "Monk's Roasted Ham Hock" -- an obvious choice of name for a new OS

As I am german, I know Augustiner (beer) and Schweinshaxe (yummy food), but the only mentioning of this Google can find is actually the Phoronix test. Regarding the name I would assume a hoax, but why should they do that?

My best guess would be they want to avoid citing the real OS name.
