With U.S. Patent 7,536,726, Microsoft has been granted a patent with which they hope to make a successful business model out of a potentially severely restricted operating system.

Since 2005, Windows share on the desktop has dropped from around 96% to just over 90% with OSX then Linux the primary beneficiaries.

So we all should cheer Microsoft on with this wonderful patent of theirs. In another 5 years, perhaps as a result of this patent, Windows might be down to -oh, I don't know - 75% of the desktop market? Less?
