Two points of interest: 1) who ever said "Linux geeks are not often found on the sports field"? Maybe it's just me but I know a lot of "Linux geeks" that have sports hobbies - be it soccer or just running. If they're not a majority among different OS users, not a minority either (though there isn't a connection between the OS one uses and if s/he is into sports or not). 2) I never quite get why people raise money and then waste it for something stupid. A million soccer balls? Come on, kids with no food make them for nearly no money at all, just to allow wealthy americans, canadians and europeans play soccer, drink beer watching it and bet money for the "better team". I find it odd that people actually donate money for that.
