In the past, ITWire has been less than flattering over Microsoft’s OpenXML document format. Make no mistake, an open file format is definitely a must-have. Nevertheless, it exists so let’s be pragmatic: OpenXML can greatly bridge the gap between Windows and Linux. Erm...IIRC programmer's from Microsoft said that implementing ODF would be trivial, there is no justification for OOXML's existance.

Not to mention the fact that ONLY Microsoft has the ability to create an OOXML document. There are numerous references in the OOXML documnet that refer to closed, copyrighted and proprietary Microsoft code.

So how is this in any way a standard?
