Well, probably not quite yet – just look at how long it’s taken Unix to die in the data centre. However I can’t but feel that Microsoft’s announcement this week, that they will now be supporting Linux under Azure, represents a fundamental shift in the balance of power of server operating systems.

Usually when MS and Linux try to get close and cuddle up together it ends in tears.

It is a joke because (1) microshaft was never a server OS - it just walked and quacked (a bit more loudly than others) like one (2) I hate any relations linux has with microshaft because linux has better technicians and hackers and microshaft has better finance managers and lawers. And anyone can guess who will win in case there is a dispute.
