If I'm honest, clearly written by someone who will only try what's stuck in his face, and a little bit of searching is "unreasonable".
If only he'd look at something like XFCE, which is so close to Gnome 2 that in a well configured system it's hard to tell the difference (apart from the lousy theme support of gnome 3 applications), but hey, who am I to tell someone who can't be bothered to test something if "It won't work in a VM".
