I know this is old and moldy but I went down the same path last summer. After installing Fedora 20 I removed LibreOffice due to some defect (I think it was an issue with spell checking wrapped lines of text in Calc) and installed Open Office. I discovered on my Fedora 20 system that the scroll button and scroll bars were the same color and there was no simple way to change them. I struggled with Open Office for a couple of weeks and went back to Libre office.
