The media has been abuzz with OpenOffice being forked into LibreOffice by The Document Foundation in past few days. The Document Foundation, has already released a beta version of Libre Office that can be installed on Ubuntu.Please note that LibreOffice is still a beta version and not meant for production purposes.

No need to rename anything, and libreoffice3.3-debian-menus_3.3-9526_all.deb is not needed since the first directory has packages for KDE/Gnome support which add LibreOffice to the menu.

Easy method would be download, extract, cd to the directory then run as root dpkg -i *

In my case I use a folder for downloads, called , wait for it, Downloads.
