Published at LXer:

"Star Office" then "Open Office" now "Libre Office" ...

Granted these changes took place over a decade, but as anyone with some marketing savvy knows, branding is important. I understand what is happening and a bit of why, but I cannot help thinking folks will be confused ... again!!

Heavy sigh,

And why do you still have an EOL version of Ubuntu, SaintDanBert? It does NOT include LibreOffice.

$ apt-cache policy libreoffice3-writer
libreoffice3-writer:
Installed: 3.3.0-7
Candidate: 3.3.0-7

Anything that sticks a pin in Oracle is a good thing. They totally screwed up when they bought Sun and decided to sue Google.

Wandering off topic, but ...

Jaunty supported my tablet-pc laptop(s) pretty well. I have Lucid installed to a different tablet-pc working to iron out the kinks.
My Jaunty box carries the freight so that is what is part of my profile.

I've been running open source **-Office for quite some time. At one point, in the early days, I even bought the boxed edition of StarOffice(tm). I'm sorry if my message was cryptic and shed very little light.
