Nowhere in this link nor the source article, did I see the suggestion that only idiots would be trapped by this, and no mention of Linux either. MacAfee, Semantec, etc love to announce virus threats to OSS. They know that MS is trying to squeeze them by including it's own (subscription) virus checker in Vista, and they are desparate to prove that OSS users need them.

It was expected - to malign Firefox. Its sad but true and geeks saw it coming.

I had always wondered why firefox plugins were not digitally signed from Firefox/Mozilla.

FireFox is generally "just a little bit too trusting" for my taste. I feel like there were some media-folks pushing for certain things to be made the default. Consequently, I use the thing as little as I can.
