I agree with Linus.

And what a demented article title. Does Linus Torvalds Hate Freedom ? If I were Linus and I'd have to respond to such an article, the proper answer would be: Respectfully dear sir, f u !

How is that ?

The argument is really GPLv2 (Linus) vs GPLv3 (RMS). I'd have to say that GPLv2 offers much more freedom, and is a better license overall than GPLv3. GPLv3 tries to patch various supposed holes in GPLv2, but fails at this miserably and takes away freedoms that were offered under GPLv2.

So, actually the title of the article should rather be Does RMS hate freedom ?

The answer of course in no.

Even so the title would be stupid either way, and the article is obviously biased.

Go read another article on the topic, one that is less biased then make up your mind.

Exactimundo.

Linus Torvald's reservations about GPL v.3 are well known. It's not a pro- or anti-freedom debate, it's a debate about what is essential in preserving freedom, where the balance should be struck between "holding the line" and pragmatism.

I think that this is the sort of headline that you tend to get on slow news days.
