LXer: As Goes Chrome OS, So Goes Google's Chrome Browser

Published at LXer:

If you happen to think, as I do, that Google Chrome is emerging as the very best browser available, it's worth noting a point that we've made many times on OStatic: Chrome's evolution will have everything to do with the ongoing development of Google's upcoming Chrome OS. Chrome OS, Google's first operating system aimed squarely at computing desktops, is an ambitious project for Google, and, from the outset, it's been clear that because the Chrome browser interface--and much of its plumbing--form the UI and guts of Chrome OS, the fate of the operating system and its sibling browser are inextricably tied. As glimpses of version 8 of the Chrome browser appear, this seems more true than ever.

Yeah, that's one thing I'm impressed with about Google: their obsession with FOSS!!!

Of course, other members here may not like the expense of privacy associated with it. They're missing out, because they're attacking a multibillion-dollar corporation that is friends with Canonical and has the guts to stand up to peer pressure!

And doesn't Eric Schmidt have almost triple the money of £arry E££i$on? Here's a thought: To stop Orac£e's rant about Android, how about buying Orac£e out in a hostile takeover? Then, it's business as usual.

Google is evil, I don't care if they support FLOSS, they're still evil. Once they get control, they will tighten the grip. Their goal so far is to get your data on their servers ... in safe hands, I'm sure they won't look at it.

Also, why does everyone keep saying that Google Chrome is the best browser in the world ? I much prefer FF, it has extensions that I need, and I can compile it easily, and it has been around longer.

  1. And what about Google and Canonical being friends?
  2. Chrome is faster than FF, especially on Linux systems, which is why Ubuntu plans to have it in place of FF on Ubuntu 11.04 Netbook Edition.

I guess that means Ubuntu is evil too...
