Faced with disappointing sales, HP and Dell are scaling back investments in 10-inch netbooks, with HP possibly quitting the format entirely, according to DigiTimes. Manufacturers have always hated netbooks because they cannibalize sales of the bigger more expensive laptops and are a serious downward drag on computer prices. The only surprise here is that they didn't drop them earlier. Of course in a few months we'll all be reading about HP and Dell re-introducing netbooks because companies like Acer are taking away sales.
