what are the services i can disable, also disable ads, banners in konqueror?

as you can see in my subject, how do i do those in suse-9.2. you know a plugin can be downloaded for mozilla-firefox to turn of those ads, banners and animations, is any similar plugins available for konqueror?

i don't know of a konqueror way of doing this (i'm sure someone else does, though), but you could always use your /etc/hosts file to knock-out a lot of stuff... for example with:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt

hey so how do i use this file, copied to /etc thus replacing the original file and what this will do speed up my internet surfing?

don't replace your current one, just append everything after the [quote]#start of lines added by WinHelp2002/quote] part to the end of your current /etc/hosts...

you can also use another hosts file from somewhere else instead.. there's plenty of them floating all over the web...

what this does is it will prevent your machine from openning connections to the listed web addresses, which are mostly ad servers and spyware sites, etc... so when you go into a page with a bunch of ads in it, the ads won't get downloaded by your browser... it helps save bandwidth and thus speeds things up somewhat... on sites with lots of ads the speed boost can be quite dramatic...
