[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello,

I hope, anyone can help at the following issue:

octave:1> pkg install ann-1.0.2.tar.gz
.
.
/bin/sh: ar: command not found
make[2]: *** [../lib/libANN.a] Error 127
make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
error: 'make' returned the following error: make: Entering directory `/tmp/octjLACS6/ann-1.0.2/src'

The Package binutils was installed.
What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for your Help in advance!

Hi and welcome to LQ,

From the filename it looks like what you want to install are the sources of a program named ann. If you want to install software from sources you have to extract the archive, enter the directory created and run:
Code:
./configure (perhaps using some options)
make
su - (to become root)
make install
Regards

Octave actually has the install function to do it.

octave:1> pkg install ann-1.0.2.tar.gz is correct.

But the application ann-1.0.2 is too buggy for it
to work.
