Power Management: Cannot get known good chip configurations (RadeonHD)

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I installed the new openSuse 11.2 and currently KDE hangs. I found the following error in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

RADEONHD[0] Power Management: Cannot get known good chip configurations

Is there any known solution about that bug?

It seems to be a known issue, but I guess there is still no work-around:

After more searching and looking in RadeonHD source code, I think that the issue is related to the new AtomBios support.

First it tries to disable the Power Management (Attempting to disable power management) which fails because AtomBIOS command table 19 does not exist:

Then it tries to disable the clock gating (Attempting to %sable clock gating) which leads to Unusupported SetVoltage Revision and the function rhdAtomGetVoltage returns ATOM_NOT_IMPLEMENTED. (by the way there is a typo in the error message, it should be Unsupported).

So I guess the problem is that AtomBios does not work with my BIOS as there are several functions that return ATOM_NOT_IMPLEMENTED. I read somewhere that AtomBIOS is reading the Video BIOS. Do integrated graphics cards have a separate bios from the system one e.g. RS690?

I am currently having installed on my Laptop the following bios: AMIBIOS 2006, A16 3BAMS Ver. 1.0A. Do you think that upgrading it to a newer version will fix the problem?

Is there any documentation about the supported hardware and Bios versions by AtomBIOS?

P.S. I found online several similar problems, but they were actually finishing in another branch of the function rhdAtomGetVoltage: Not supporting SetVoltage V1 yet
