How to find shared swap filesystem under SuSE?

Hi,

On this HP server, I've installed Red Hat Enterprise Server first, then OpenSuSE Enterprise Server 11 and made it dual boot. As I remember, the SuSE installation asked if use/share the swap filesystem with RH and my answer was yes. Now I can't find the swap filesystem under SuSE? How can I find if it is existing?

RH is on the first disk and swap is an independent partition. SuSE is on the second disk.

'gpart' is a utility that tries to "guess" disk layout.

It is available for RHEL ES.

Easy...

Boot SUSE, open a terminal, and run "top". Swap size should be listed in k along with how much is in use and how much is free.

Swap doesn't need to be present, it only has to act as if it is. If "top" sees it, it's as good as there.

"swapon -s" from a terminal.

1) top does not show any swap process.
2) "swapon -s" shows the swap partition on the first disk as partition 3.

This means on a dual boot system, RH and SuSE can share the same swap partition.

Depends on your definition of "share". They can both use that partition - independently. Doesn't work too well if you use it for suspend/resume (not likely on a server), or crashdump, which is more of a potential issue.
