I have the system recognizing the card by default. I really didn't have to do anything in that regard. It's a Broadcomm A/B/G card. On the other hand, it won't detect any access points. I'm not sure what's wrong. I've tried adding them by hand, but no dice. Any ideas?

For reference, I have automatic updates running of course, the system was installed within the last 12 hours, so nothing's outdated, and the adaptor is a Broadcomm BCM4312 802.11a/b/g card.

Found my solution here. Apparently all broadcom (sorry for the misspelling earlier) adapters need a firmware extracted from the windows driver. OpenSUSE 11 makes that easy as pie compared to some others. For those who need to do this, just make sure you have the b43-fwcutter package installed (which by all means you should) and run "sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware". It'll ask for your root password if you aren't running in root, but then it'll do all the magic for you. Hopefully that helps someone.

ive been looking for this actually. thanks.
my laptop was offline because i obviously couldnt connect to any network so i had to do everything manually. dl the files from an online computer and transfer them using a flash. still was easy, just followed the directions.
a side note, i had to use kwifi manager to find networks because network manager in kde4 wont list any.

Hi Everybody,

Does anyone experience problems with status LED of bcm4311 card on a laptop ?
i try b43 (with fwcutter firmware) and right now i use broadcom STA driver but still can't get status LED working when active/connected/tx/rx

any suggestions ?
