YaST wont execute from icon on the applications menu!

Hi all,

I have recently installed Suse 10.1. Up until this evening i was able to start YaST from the icon in the applications > system sub-menu on the gnome desktop. I don't know what has caused it but when i attempt to do this now nothing happens.

I should say that if i run a terminal and execute yast2 there its gui appears and i can then use it normally.

So can anyone out there tell me how i can fix this problem.

Any help would be appreciated. I am a linux newbie and need all the help i can get.

Thanks,
Steve

I am not a gnome user. Yet, I'd go ahead and suggest something which, might or might not help you.
Open up gnome menu editor and navigate to the menu entry for yast2. Check if the path to the command yast2 is correct.
BTW, when you launch yast2 from terminal, do you do it while logged in as root or su to root and then issue the command ?
