Who here can help me install LTMODEM on Suse 10.0???

I have a Linux Compatible modem (Lucent/Agere chipset 1646t00)that I need to get up and running. When I do a "MAKE" when installing ltmodem, I get an error that reads as follows:

Doug@linux:~/ltmodem-2.6-alk-8> make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.13-15.12-default/build SUBDIRS=/home/Doug/ltmodem-2.6-alk-8 modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15.12-obj/i386/default'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15.12-obj/i386/default'
make: *** [module] Error 2

** under SUBDIRS above>>>> I have NO ltmodem-2.6-alk-8 modules file?????** Is that the problem here??

I do have a directory that is as follows: /home/Doug/ltmodem-2.6-alk-8

Very aggravating. Once I get this installed, my modem will work. There has to be someone here that installed this correctly and could tell me how to do it. Thanks

if I recall you need a link for the build directory to a linux kernel directory it has been a while but that was what resolved my issue which was the same error. YOu will need to have the make file in the linux kernel folder be the same exact config file as the kernel you are running too. If I am unclear let me know and I'll try to be more specific, if I find the link that helped me resolve my issue I'll post it for you too.

I switched to the MARTIAN driver for my kernel, BUT

After installing the driver......Seemed all went well....It says the module for /dev/ttySM0 is installed, but when I go to bring it up, it says," /dev/ttySM0: device not found".I also have symlinks for /dev/ttyLT0 - /dev/ttySM0 - /dev/modem1. This driver is the one that works for my modem for sure, but I must be doing something wrong installing it.

Open bash. Run martian_helper. Close bash shell and let martian_helper keep running. "Modem" will keep existing as long as martian_helper is running. I have to do this myself everytime I restart the system but I am eventually going to put it in a start up script somehow.
