VIA/S3 Graphics, only 800X600 available. Any fix for the live CD.

I have another thread going today about wireless on a laptop I am considering install OpenSuse on for my friend. That issue was solved, so before I go ahead and install I want to be sure I can solve the graphics issue.

It defaults on the live CD to a maximum of 800X600 res. I this graphics chip is capable of more as other live CDs give me 1280X800, which is what I am after. There is no Xorg.conf. Is there any way to test whether or not I can get better resolution after the install? I have read that this chip uses the openchrome driver, but it does not seem to be present in the OpenSuse system. I believe this is the last hurdle before I install it for him. This will be his first experience with Linux, and if I am going to make a permanent convert of him, I need to get this to work.

Any help appreciated. Also, there are any boot options from the live CD that will help test this I would appreciate those as well.

Bob
