USB Hotpluging with 2.6.11

Hi
I'm suffering an irritation since upgrading to a 2.6.11 kernel on 9.2, which I was hoping somebody might know something about.

In essence, my USB card reader is not automounting like it used to. In addition to upgrading the kernel, I updated udev, hwinfo, submount & mkinitrd from ftp.suse.com...but it still does not work. Kernel messages are below. Thanks in advance to anyone who cracks this....I'll donate another 5£ to LQ(or a preferred cause) if this gets sorted to my satisfaction!

Have a look through the kernel config you appear to be missing a driver for it and I think they are now incorporated with the kernel you just might not have selected it.

Thats what I thought too but:
[*] Lexar Jumpshot Compact Flash Reader (EXPERIMENTAL)

Besides...it mounts fine manually.

Maybe you can start here:
Code:
Mar 31 17:52:15 laptop /sbin/hotplug[5955]: No drivers for 'USB product 5dc/81/1' (from /etc/hotplug/usb.handmap)
If you create an entry for this devive in /etc/hotplug/usb.handmap, maybe the correct driver will be assigned. However, I am not familiar with the syntax of such an entry. You'll probably get the data from hwinfo or the /sys filesystem.

Indeed. I'd considered that also, but it does not explain why my previous kernel worked. I did updated the kernel, not the hotplug package.

Cheers for your thoughts though.

But you updated hwinfo and udev. Maybe the hotplug scripts do not work properly with these informations. Was there a specific reason for updating these? I run 2.6.11.2 on 9.1 without problems...

Try putting the mount command in your rc.local.
