Okay, as I said before to change icons, you can do a few things, apply an icon theme, overwrite the files in the kde/icons folder, or use KBFX.
To apply an icon theme, you merely download it, leave it as an archive(like .tar.gz), and then using the kmenu > kcontrol > appearance(or look and feel, or themes depending on distro and version) then icons. Once there, just add new theme, and browse to the archive.

Finally, KBFX is a kicker applet that allows you to choose whatever icon you want as a kmenu icon. You can drag and drop any .png to the kicker to make it a button with it installed. I recommend sticking with .47, as .48 made some... less than optimal changes. For deatils:

Then once installed, right click on the kicker, add applet, add kbfx, and you are done. Move it to your liking, then remove the kmenu button, put whatever icon you want as the icon, and then restart x(or reboot).
