Angry upgraded to 11.2 finally got totem to play video but no audio.

I upgraded from 11.1 to 11.2. I wish I had not done so. None of the multimedia worked. I spent several days getting totem to play video, but no audio. Nothing plays MP3s (or any audio for that matter. I only have access to 56K internet so downloading is really slow. I am using xine because it worked before in 11.1. I'm really trying to stick to Suse but IMHO 11.2 is the most half baked release I have ever tried. 10.3 was great, 11.0 was OK, 11.1 was a little better but 11.2 SUCKS!

I am NOT having a lot of fun SuSE team!!!!!!

Thank you! your advice was correct. Smplayer works fine now. Kaffeine is still really unstable. DO you know why? It will play audio and sometimes part of ripped DVD vob files but never unripped DVDs directly from the media. It worked fine in 11.1. is it broken forever?
thanks again for your help

Kaffeine dose not have a "stable" release for KDE-4 yet. 11.2 installs the latest "pre-release" version but it is still a little buggy.

On another note:
After you get familiar with smplayer & all it can do, you may not want to even bother with kaffeine.

check out:
Options > Preferences

Some DVDs and .iso's will require you to select the track.
Browse > Title > make selection

VLC is another player that some like, but I never cared much for it.
There's a separate repo for it

Thank you. Although there are probably many solutions, this one was relatively quick and easy to implement.

I've been using it for quite some time now on my media box.
In particular, I like the ability to configure the mouse buttons with smplayer.
