Is there a tool similar to YUM, how do I go about updating this product?

SuSE uses YAST (Yet Another Setup Tool), from it you can control your box. As far as just the program install side, it works in a similar way to YUM.

There is a part of YaST (Yet another Setup Tool) called YOU (YaST Online Update). It starts out as a yellow circle on the lower right side of the screen. Once turned on, it will tell you when there are patches and security fixes available for download (Somewhat similar to MS Windows Update).

If you want to install a program that does not yet exist on your system, with few exceptions, I would check YaST first.
