up-to-date in suse 9.3 pro

I've been using suse for a while now, but there is one thing that always kept me back when using it. It's how to make my system up-to-date. I've tried apt, but it kept on saying things about Gpg signatures and with yast, I added sources to it, but when i tried add/remove software. It displayed the old software lists, no new apps. I wonder if anyone could help me if i've done wrong or incorrectly. Because I wanted my system up-to-date.

Thanks

YOU is the official tool to provide patches for Suse distros. Even if you use Synaptic, you will still only get the updates from Suse that are available through YOU. Synaptic is only beneficial on Suse if you are going to configure third party repositories that provide packages that are not part of the Suse distro or that replace crippled versions of packages. You will not get any extra updates by using synaptic.
