Unable to connect to YOU with SUSE 9.3

I am having an annoying problem, I cannot connect to YOU (yast online update) to get the latest updates on my computer.
SUSE watcher says: YOU status couldnt connect to update-server

Has someone experienced similar problems how can I fix this?

Note: I just installed SUSE 9.3

++edit: also when I check the log, I see the following:

online_update -k -s
Error retrieving patches: ERROR(You:File has invalid signature.)[Patch: fetchnvidia.sh-52062]

If you are accessing YOU via YAST, then choose a different update source. (YOU usually lists 7 or 8 different sources - some are considerably faster than others).

Like HOW -- could you please be a bit more explicit -- a lot of people have this problem at the moment - especially when YOU doesn't return any list at all.

What exactly do you have to enter and where --so the application works as it should -- There should be a way to get the list of servers into YOU so a drop down list appears if a particular server isn't available.

The reply you gave above while might be technically correct doesn't really help anyone - especially inexperienced users .

Thanks

Cheers

-K

Apologies.

I have some Suse 9.3 boxes at work and sometimes patching them is ridiculously fast and other times it takes ages to even get the list. I've always put it down to server load. Sometimes I've just had to go away and come back another day to get them.
As for the nvidia patch problem, try a different source for the updates.
When you start YOU, it should present you with a drop down list with serveral different locations to choose from. (The default ones all show up as being in Germany when I've looked at the list). There may be other mirrors but I've not gone down that road.
I've never had a serious enough problem with YOU to need to go editing it's conf file so can't help you there.

Question Just Installed 10.0 Final Release and YOU Updater not working

I updated via CD (From one of hte mirrors), and when ever I try to update via YOU's online updater I get the following error:

error
HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/...es/directory.3)

The odd part is there is no mention of SuSE 9 in my install sources, nor is there Enterprise Server which I
had a Trial Version that I played with. Also this is what the log file says whenever I try to update:

I had tried to remove the older sources, SUSE SLES-9, SuSE CORE-9, and I still receive same error. Any Ideas.

Regards

- Pat

Question (yast online update)

Not sure I understand your reply. The problem I am having is running the online updates, i.e.
via the Yast Online Update screen. I can run the updates via Apt-get, but since I installed
OpenSuSe 10.0 from Beta 1 to RC1 and the final release I have not bet able to run my
Auto updates late at night when I am in sleep mode.

The topic is about 9.3 not 10.0 which IS different. YOU updates for 10.0 have different ftp folders. But anyway, while updating via YOU select server of University of Bremen. It's the fastest so far.
