Trying to Setup Home Wireless

I've managed to convince a friend to load his new computer (currently at my place) with SUSE10 which I am currently using.

The problem is that I am using a 56K dialup while he is using ADSL wireless at his home, which means I have little experience with wireless.

Presently, when in Windows, we noticed that there is several networks and we can use the network using the "any" network setting. Setting up using his SSID+WEP does not work.

But in SUSE, I had tried but do not know to setup the wireless connection.

I had tried going into Yast->Network Devices->Network card to setup. Also setting the driver for the Netgear USB adapter using ndiswrapper without problem.
Netapplet indicates that there are not network available (but we detect some in windows).

As I do not have any wireless experience, I am totally lost. I suspect I had setup wrongly as this is my first time with wireless.

The first 3 commands we need to see out put from are:
lspci - so we can see if the card is detected
ifconfig - so we can see if it's getting an ip address
iwconfig - so we can see what settings are being used

If you open a console and run those commands (you may need to su to root) and then copy and paste them (surround each one with [ code][/code ] tags (remove the spaces), we can see where the problem may lie.

Welcome to LQ

but as we tested in windows earlier, quite a few networks are around

Using Kwifimanager to confirm the connection, seems like my wireless adapter is not detected?
