EDIT: Figured out that i needed wlan-ng...trying to compile and getting build errors @ the MAKE ALL stage. See second post for more details.
Original post:
Well, first I would like to say HOT DAMN, SuSe has changed a lot since the last time I used it ( 7.x ). I like it. Second, I'm technically not a linux "newbie" but I am finding that my knowledge of linux is lacking in the adding device drivers department.
What I have is an HP Pavillion XF328 Laptop ( 1.4 ghz, 256mb ram, 30gb HDD partitioned w/ a dual boot of Windows XP Pro / SuSe 9.3 using GRUB as my boot loader ). All that works splended. I have a usb Linksys instant wireless adapter ( WUSB11 ver 2.5 [ which hardware chipset is that, prism, prism2 or amtel? ] ).
I can't seem to get this blasted adapter to work. Maybe i'm doing something wrong or maybe I'm just an unlucky SOB. Whatever the case is I would apreciate it if i can get some help getting this thing to work. I would absolutely looove to be able to ditch Windows on my laptop, but I can't until I can get the wireless card working.
Now, when I plug the adapter in and look in SuSe Plugger under unkown devices it shows up as "Linksys unclassified device". I click the button that says insert and it tells me some drivers have been installed and that it "should" be usable. We all know what "should" means...don't hold your breath for too long. lol.
When I go to YaST to configure my network adapter it shows the built in ethernet adapter, and other ( not detected ).
Under Device type I have tried using Wireless, using the Kernel module i selected from the list "Wireless device using Kernel module prism2_usb.o"
Still no luck though, i'm not sure if i missed something or what.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
