Total lock-ups. How do I track it down?
Something has gotten borked here. I keep getting total lock-ups in KDE that force me to punch the power button to reset. Everything, including the mouse cursor, completely halts.
I think Vmware is to blame for causing whatever is going on. I was trying to install a new VM and it froze repeatedly. Either my XP disc was bad or something is wrong with Vmware (the disc more likely). It caused everything to lock up solid three times in a row and forced me to reset the PC.
Now KDE is also freezing up and I think something's gotten corrupted. Twice I tried to reboot and log into KDE and it just froze up. So I let SuSe run a fsck on reboot, then rebooted again before logging into KDE and that seemed to get me going for about an hour. Just now, it froze up again out of nowhere.
How do I track down the cause of this? Is there a dump file or a log or something I can look at?
