Yes I am having some trouble installing themes on suse 9.1. I download the theme RPM and the install goes fine, but I do not know where to apply the new theme, any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
With a few exceptions, threads are not deleted from LQ, because doing so would also remove all the responses a given question received.
Also, congrats on solving the problem, but could you post the solution? That will be helpful to any future readers who have the same question. Thanks -- J.W.
Okay, I looked at it and my advice for several reasons is to give it up. However, if you insist on trying you can do this and cross your fingers:
The linked theme download is double tarred. First you have to extract the initial package as you would any other tar file. Then, when you attempt to extract the next one you will most likely get a dialogue asking you what type of file is being presented for extraction. You will have to select "Compressed Tar Archive" from the drop down menu as that is the proper choice in this particular instance. That will leave you with a folder that contains a .png and .themerc file.
KDE .themerc files go into the /opt/kde3/share/apps/kstyle/themes directory.
If you place it there and it works you are one lucky person.
