Smile Tests for file system


hi,

I am looking for test suites that will give me a good coverage on testing various filesystems in Suse. Can anyone help me out in this??

As far as I know, the command 'fsck' is the way to check and repair fixable file system problems. There are a number of file system specific commands that do the checking and repairing. example : 'e2fsck' for a ext2 file system.

Start by looking at the man page for fsck.

hi Cliff,

am looking for testing the validity of filesystem kernel code, whether its able to handle all the real time scenarios..
any input??

I suspect you are looking for a commercial product. I don't have experience with any specific product. So all I can suggest is a Google search. I did turn up some products that say they do the job. Here is one sample.
