Been using SUSE on my Thinkpad for years (since #7) and most was fine, but lately, say about 6 months ago, I lost sound and my taskbar just disappears when I play flash/youtube video (an any browser, midori chromium, chrome, FF)
While the taskbar is off, the only thing I can do is to ctrl-alt-supp and choose shut-down.
Even if I open a new session, say root, I miss the taskbar
When I ctrl-alt F1, I have access to a full screen console where I can log in any user, run TOP, but don't see anything that I feel I should kill (all runing normaly)
Which makes me think that the task bar is "running" but hided somehow.
When I try Alt+F2 ---> graphical command line opens ----> enter "kicker" as I found in this forum ... well, alt-f2 doesn't lead me nowhere.
Same as alt+tab, it doesn't switch open windows
Is it due to the fact I can't update the plasma because of dependencie to Kscreen ? (it more or less came at the same time)

plasma5-desktop-5.3.2-26.6.x86_64 requires plasma5-workspace >= 5.3.2, but this requirement cannot be provided

[ ] do not install plasma5-desktop-5.3.2-26.6.x86_64
[ ] break plasma5-desktop-5.3.2-26.6.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies
Not sure what other problem you are referring to for saying "the same" ?

tbh, i don't see how this can be related.
I don't see either, unless some kind of plugin or a missing update somewhere that is in conflict ?
Yes, the sound is always off, for the past 6 months or so

Will try .... to find what compositing is and then disabling it
When opening the OpenGL controler, I've been warned of a message saying that it has crashed and was disabled since then (no idea since when)
With the advice to not "just" put it back on but maybe set it to xRender
I've tryed but the overall is now soooo slow !!
And the drop-down menu doesn't show up anymore, let's try a flash video now
Right .... As I'm writing it this very moment, my task bar is not available (disapeared) after I opened a youtube tab in FF, played a video (John Oliver, last week tonight) and closed it -my task bar was still available at that point- and then open a tab in Chromium and open a youtube video (Gorillaz)
Note that only on Chromium did the sound work ... but my taskbar crashed
KDE/Plasma 5 was a preview in 13.2, and is a little sketchy at times when compared to Plasma 4 in 13.2 or Plasma 5 in Tumbleweed and 42.1 from my use of it. I'm thinking it's a bug of some sort, although I'm not sure if KDE 5 on 13.2 is a *supported* and patched option.
back ...
Been watching different videos on FF, no sound but no crash (taskbar still available)
Using OpenGL 3 and 2
Back on Xrender and trying Chromium
After say 10sec. of video, the taskbar goes hided as if that feature was (still) on, and no way for me to make it reappear
Could it be that my automatic hide feature is stuck on somewhere in the setings and because it is not "actually" on, then there is nothing to check where my cursor is and therefore my hovering toward my taskbar is of no effect ??

If you can't find a decent workaround, that's what I would do. Note Plasma 4 and 5 are not coinstallable, so you might want to run the package installation from a virtual terminal while the Plasma 5 packages are uninstalled before the Plasma 4 packages are installed.
