SuSE10 USB Not Working
hi everyone (again),
with my last problem fixed it's on to another. The usb doesn't seem to be working. It decteds that there are USB hubs, but even lsusb doesn't detect anything plugged (I thought it might not be mounting it when plugged in or something). I've tried it with a new USB as I thought the old one might need drivers but that didn't help. thanks, Dan |
Could you please provide some further info:
- What kind of device you are trying to use? - Does the output of dmesg show any usb related messages after you plugged it in? Is USB activated in your BIOS? |
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Looks like the USB is working. I've got some USB related messages that look like this: uhci_hcd 0000:00:10.0: UHCI Host Controller uhci_hcd 0000:00:10.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1 uhci_hcd 0000:00:10.0: irq 10, io base 0x0000d000 hub 1-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 1-0:1.0: 2 ports detected ACPI-0212: *** Warning: Device is not power manageable ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:10.1[B] -> Link [LNKE] -> GSI 10 (level, low) -> IRQ 10 so it looks like its finding the ports but not recognising anythings plugged in. The device is a Crucial 128mb pen drive. Thanks, Dan |
Is your USB hub powered? That might make a difference.

nope it's onboard

I've found aN USB viewer that provides more information than say lsusb. Perhaps it can be helpful. http://usbview.sourceforge.net
