SUSE Watcher and YOU Cannot Update

1, I can surf the net meaning the internet connection is okay.

But when I use the SUSE Checker to "Check for Updates" it will return a "Unable to check fofor updates" after some time.

2. I also tried starting YOU, it will show a message "getting a list of mirror servers" and after some time it will show

" Cannot fetch remote server list. Only user-defined patch sources will be available
Possibel solution:
Check network connection."

anyone can advise what is the two situation above?

I've got the same problem but my version is Suse 8.2. I think that a security update broke something. I've not been able to find a solution. I have seen other poeple ask this question also. Do a search on this board.

I know this thread is old, but I'm am having this exact same trouble with SuSE 9.3. Still trying to find an answer. If anyone has found out how to fix this, could you let the less experienced Linux users know. Thanks.

Yast online update

Not sure how much this helps, but check to see if your using a proxy? I configured a proxy in .bashrc, but only use it occasionally. When I'm not using it I have to comment it out...

I'm sure there is a better way of doing this but it's a start...Maybe start in Yast by checking network settings?

You can't! However, if you have webspace, you can upload the image there and post the link here.

[EDIT] Concerning your problem: maybe you'll find the solution here: http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/0...s_youinfo.html
