suse ftp install from hdd

Hello all.

I just downloaded entire directory /pub/suse/i386/9.3 except of /iso directory. I burned iso from the /boot directory. Now I try to install suse. I'm booting from CD, select installation source - harddisk and my directory. And I can't select software packages - the list is empty. Is there any way to do this without additional downloads?

Because I want complete installation, not eval. In eval many packages is missing. Correct me if I wrong.

You are right, but... it is easier to do the basic install from CD and then download the missing packages via FTP installation. I would even favour to do the complete installation via FTP. This way you reduce the download volume to only the requested packages.

Is the first CD from 5 is enough for basic installation?

Don't know, I never tried it but it may well be. But you can use the boot.iso to run the installation completely from FTP.

Good point! Seems to be a little late in your case
Did you download also the files in the 9.3 folder (ls-IR.gz, INDEX.gz,ARCHIVES.gz, content, directory.yast, etc.)?

Maybe you find some useful hints here:

May be my question is:
How to make install DVD from FTP? Do I need to change some configs, etc.?

You mean how to make a bootable installation DVD from the data you downloaded from FTP? I don't think this is an easy task, and why would you whant to do that if you can download the DVD.iso? But anyway, you should be able to use the FTP tree as installation source. It's probably just a minor configuration error.
